Nasal dilators were created to prevent snoring during sleep. Since this problem is a pressing one for many people, their popularity is growing every day.
But, according to otolaryngologist and otoneurologist Olga Malchenko, nasal dilators will help overcome this ailment only in one case, reports Public Television of Russia .
This device will be useful only when the cause of snoring is nasal valve syndrome.
“That is, when a person breathes through their nose and their nostrils collapse, they are drawn into the nose,” the specialist explained.
Dilators help to avoid this retraction and thus prevent snoring.
If the reason lies elsewhere, then nasal dilators will be useless.
The only way to get rid of snoring is to decide on surgery.
As for the harm from this “device”, those who think that the expansion of the nostrils and the increase in oxygen flow can be dangerous should not worry.
Normally, the nostrils should be wide, the doctor assures, and it is not the oxygen supply that causes harm, but, on the contrary, its lack.
There is no need to worry that the nose will get used to being wide and will undergo visual changes – this will not happen.
