According to experts, in the summer and especially in hot weather, headache attacks occur 8% more often.

And it’s not even about sunstroke or overheating.

According to global estimates by the WHO, 4% of the world's adult population experiences headaches 15 or more days a month. Despite differences in the frequency of this symptom by region, the problem is global and affects people regardless of age, race and place of residence, - said in an interview with the publication " Championship " therapist, gastroenterologist, nutritionist Polina Shubina.

According to the expert, even those who have never had this problem experience headaches in the heat.

The doctor names two main reasons for this phenomenon.

Reason one

Under the influence of high air temperature, blood vessels expand, resulting in a drop in blood pressure and a deterioration in blood supply.

The second reason

As is known, in the heat a person sweats a lot, which is associated with dehydration.

As a result, the blood thickens, which affects the blood supply to the tissues and brain and causes a sharp spasm of the blood vessels.

The condition can be worsened by cold drinks, which, after consuming them, cause a narrowing of the blood vessels.

For those people who often experience headaches at normal temperatures, heat can make the condition worse.
