Insomnia, also known as insomnia, is a problem that is quite common among people of all ages and genders.
Did you know that insomnia can be divided into 3 main types? The criterion for differentiation is the course of the disease.
Transient (acute)
If sleep problems last no more than a week, and their cause is strong emotional arousal, which, by the way, can be caused by both a joyful and a sad event, we can talk about transient insomnia.
The same type of insomnia can occur with too light sleep under the influence of external stimuli such as lighting, uncomfortable temperature, noise, etc.
Sometimes acute insomnia is observed as a result of a disruption in the sleep-wake cycle or a change in time zones.
Short term
This type of insomnia can deprive you of sleep for a period of a week to a month and is usually caused by a more serious stressful situation such as the death of a loved one, moving, etc.
Sometimes short-term insomnia is caused by chronic diseases – of internal organs, heart and blood vessels, etc.
Chronic
This type of insomnia can last more than a month and, most often, is a “companion” of a somatic or mental illness.
Chronic insomnia can be caused by drug use, caffeine abuse, etc.
