Children under two years of age should not be given sweets. This will only negatively affect their health and weaken their immunity.

Gastroenterologist Ekaterina Kashukh spoke about this in an interview with representatives of the Izvestia publication.

As the doctor noted, a child can eat a piece of chocolate or several candies a day.

The specialist clarified that children over two years old can eat no more than six teaspoons of sugar per day, that is, less than 30 g.

For comparison: 100 g of candy contains on average 70 g of sugar.

This means that a child can be treated to two or three candies per day. Such a dose will not cause harm to his body.

Kashukh recalled that the abuse of treats provokes diabetes and obesity in minors and worsens the functioning of blood vessels.

It is much better to treat children with products that contain natural sugar, for example, berries or fruits.

Earlier, doctors named the most harmful sweets in New Year's gifts.
