Flowers or thick greenery can transform an apartment, but they can also improve the quality of life of the residents.

Scientists conducted a study according to which 15 minutes of caring for indoor plants reduces stress and anxiety levels.

But this is not all that "green pets" are capable of. Experts have identified three plants that treat allergies, relieve headaches and improve sleep quality.

English Ivy

Researchers from the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology found that ivy reduced the amount of airborne mold spores inside glass containers.

Experts advise placing the plant in the most used room. However, it should be remembered that ivy is toxic, so it should be placed in an area inaccessible to children and pets.

Golden Pothos (Scindapsus)

Almost all objects in the apartment emit volatile organic compounds. These can be carpets, wood products, and insulation. Toxins can cause headaches.

Experts from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine have found that golden pothos reduces the concentration of two toxins in the air: benzene and trichloroethylene.

Another study conducted in 2005 showed that scindapsus removes 74% of volatile organic compounds from the air, including formaldehyde, xylene, and toluene.

Aloe Vera

Aloe is placed on the bedside table, because the plant effectively absorbs carbon dioxide. At night, this nuance is especially important, because the duration of restorative slow sleep increases.
