Stress has become an integral part of our lives, but that doesn’t mean we have to accept it. In this article, we’ll look at a few changes you can make to your daily routine to maintain your health and emotional balance.
To relax, practice special breathing exercises, such as this one. Take a comfortable position on a chair, close your eyes and relax your muscles. Start from your feet: slowly move up to finish with your facial muscles. At the same time, slowly inhale and exhale through your nose. The duration of the exercise is 10-20 minutes, during which you should alternate tension and relaxation of all muscles.
You can listen to or play something calming on a musical instrument. This can be done while you are driving to work or returning home, while you are having lunch or before going to bed.
To relax, use positive affirmations and imagine positive moments. You can also watch a calming video or movie.
For self-massage, purchase a compact massager for the neck, back, feet and shoulders. To enhance the relaxing effect, breathe deeply during the massage.
You can buy a heating pad or make one yourself from natural fabric (cotton, sheep wool, etc.). Fold a 60x50 cm rectangle in half and sew the two ends, leaving one side unsewn. Fill the bag with rice or beans, add a few drops of essential oil and seal the open edge. Before placing the heating pad on your neck or shoulders, preheat it.
To relax, use a scented shower gel, lotion or body cream. Choose products with the scent of chamomile and lavender.
Exercising is not only good for staying in shape, but also for relaxation. Try yoga, dancing or martial arts – they will teach you to control your body, your breathing and your muscles, relieving tension.
