Sweets are often referred to as food for thought or a delicious way to relieve stress.
At the same time, healthy eating experts advise reducing its presence in the diet. But this is not only about sugar in its pure form.
Nutritionist Natalia Pavlyuk spoke to Radio 1 about products containing hidden sugar and seemingly healthy.
Sugar in its pure form is not a harmful product, so there is no need to give it up completely.
It is enough to just limit its consumption.
Doctors have found that sugar should not exceed 10% of the total diet, and even better – 5%.
That is, if the average diet is 2000 calories, then 200 calories of them (which is approximately 50 grams of carbohydrates or pure sugar) can be consumed per day.
The nutritionist calls 25 grams of sugar per day the ideal norm.
However, sugar enters the body throughout the day through other foods. These include bread, sauces, cookies, juices, and other foods.
It is also important to have an idea of free sugar, which is various substitutes - fructose, syrups, jam, honey, molasses, etc.
It is also important to understand that from a medical point of view, honey is also considered sugar.
There is simply no healthy replacement for this product.
Sweets are considered products in which the sugar content exceeds 6% of the calorie content. Such products include cookies, cereals and muesli. Many milk substitutes, juices, curds and yoghurts also contain added sugar, the expert explained.
