The corresponding conclusions were made by employees of Arizona State University.
The results of the study were published in the scientific journal Nature Communications.
The experiment lasted eight weeks and involved more than 40 people, who were divided into two groups.
The volunteers were diagnosed as overweight or obese. The age of the experiment participants ranged from 30 to 65 years.
Group No. 1 lost weight using the intermittent fasting system.
The volunteers ate 4-5 times a day, mainly protein products.
Group No. 2 lost weight using a calorie reduction system.
The results showed that intermittent fasting and protein foods led to an increase in the number of beneficial bacteria in the gut.
At the same time, the process of fat oxidation in the body accelerated.
Although the average calorie intake was the same across the groups, Group 1 had the best results in terms of weight and fat loss.
