How Different Diets Affect Sleep: Scientists' Findings

Experts from Sweden have discovered that the quality of diet affects the body's ability to recover during sleep.

An experiment was conducted. 15 male volunteers took part in it.

All participants were healthy and got enough sleep. But they were divided into two groups: some ate healthy food, while others were allowed to eat unhealthy food. Then specialists collected EEG data from their brains while they were sleeping.

The corresponding publication was posted in the Obesity edition.

It turned out that a diet high in sugar and fat led to a decrease in delta activity, but increased alpha and theta rhythms during deep sleep.

Even a rare indulgence in unhealthy food can affect the nature of your sleep.

It is worth noting that the authors of the work were unable to reliably answer the question of what changes the body will experience with different diets. Additional research is needed.
