A balanced diet is one of the most important factors in reducing the risk of developing dementia.

This was stated by British nutritionist Tim Spector.

An expert named three nutritional rules for preventing dementia in a conversation with The Telegraph .

How to Eat to Prevent Dementia

First, you need to include foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids in your diet: seafood, fatty fish, seeds, nuts.

Omega-3 acids activate the production of substances by the gut microbiome that interact with the immune system and reduce inflammation in the brain.

Secondly, you need to eat as many fruits, vegetables, grains, and greens as possible.

According to the nutritionist, you need to eat at least 30 types of plant-based foods per week.

As Spector explained, this promotes the formation of short-chain fatty acids in the gut microbiome, which reduce the risk of developing dementia.

Thirdly, you should reduce your consumption of ultra-processed foods and sweets.

Excess of such food leads to brain shrinkage and plaque formation.

The expert also recommended reducing alcohol consumption.

According to him, it is not necessary to give up alcohol completely, but it is important to drink in moderation and not every day.
