Scientists are trying hard to unravel the secret of longevity. They study habits, diet, genetic predisposition, and the presence of diseases.

As a result, theories multiply one after another, but there is no exact answer yet.

But as the scientific journal BMJ Mental Health reports, there is one habit that increases your chances of living a long life, even if you have chronic diseases.

Research by scientists

In a study conducted by researchers at China's Sun Yat-sen University, researchers found that psychologically resilient people are less likely to die in middle age.

To do this, it was necessary to analyze the habits and well-being of more than 10 thousand volunteers, aged 50 years and older.

What was found out?

High levels of psychological resilience reduced the risk of death among older adults over 10 years by 53%.

But most importantly, the relationship was also observed in the presence of chronic diseases (the risk of death is reduced by 46%) or bad habits (by 38%).

Moreover, the risk of mortality decreased immediately from all causes.

Scientists see an explanation for this phenomenon in the optimism and determination of such people.

They do not give in to difficulties, which ultimately has a positive effect on life expectancy.
