Experts from Spain have stated that some products have a negative impact on mental health.
As it turns out, we are talking about ultra-processed food.
This category includes sweet soda, chips, energy drinks, breakfast cereals, and fast food.
The study involved more than 150 volunteers who tested different types of ultra-processed foods.
All participants were tested regularly.
It turned out that such food is indeed associated with the development of depression.
But these are not all the conclusions that scientists were able to make.
It turned out that unhealthy food had a negative impact on the volume of some areas of the brain that play an important role in food choices, since they process data about past taste sensations.
The corresponding findings were published in the Journal of Affective Disorders, reports Gazeta.Ru .
