American scientists have proven that just 46 minutes of extra sleep will improve your well-being.
This is exactly how many minutes you need to extend your night's sleep to feel the changes within one week.
Researchers at Baylor University have shown that 46 minutes of extra sleep per night improves well-being, while a half-hour lack of sleep depresses the psyche.
The results of the work were published in the Journal of Positive Psychology.
90 people were recruited to participate in the experiment. Three groups were formed from this number.
The first group had to go to bed later than usual. The second group went to bed earlier than usual.
The third group went to bed at their usual time.
Over the course of a week, scientists monitored changes in the well-being of the experiment participants.
It turned out that increasing the duration of sleep by 46 minutes per night improved the mental state of the volunteers.
More sleep increased stress resilience and self-esteem. Participants considered themselves more successful.
At the same time, the group of participants who lost 37 minutes of sleep experienced a decrease in mental stability, a deterioration in mood and well-being.
