If you are not satisfied with the quality of washing, do not rush to buy aggressive chemicals.
It turns out that you can fix the problem using improvised means that you already have in your apartment.
One such product is vinegar, which can act as a natural fabric freshener for towels and sportswear, which are particularly prone to musty odors.
To remove detergent residue that causes fabric to smell bad, and to soften and remove dirt, fill the fabric softener compartment with vinegar and let the washing machine do its job.
But simply getting rid of the repulsive smell is not enough – you would like the washed laundry to smell pleasant.
Essential oils will help you with this; a few drops of them can be added directly to the vinegar or detergent you use.
Look for lavender or tea tree essential oils.
Both of these oils boast antibacterial properties.
Another washing aid is baking soda, which does a great job of removing odors and stains.
Add 0.5 cups of baking soda to your washing machine during rinsing, and at the end of the wash you will see how much brighter and fresher your laundry has become.
And to speed up the drying process, experienced housewives put wool balls or tennis balls in the dryer.
These additives “loosen” the clothes and improve air circulation – no wonder that things take less time to dry.
