Bananas are one of the most popular fruits.
And there is nothing surprising about this: the soft, tender and sweet pulp leaves few people indifferent.
Unfortunately, fruits often lose their bright, tasty qualities due to improper storage.
It turns out that bananas shouldn't be kept in the refrigerator. Or on the windowsill.
Why Bananas Should Not Be Stored in the Refrigerator or on the Windowsill
When stored for a long time at low temperatures, these fruits freeze, become less healthy and almost tasteless.
This is why you shouldn't put bananas in the refrigerator.
There are two exceptions, though. If you know you won't be able to eat the bananas you bought within the next 2-3 days, you shouldn't store them outside of the refrigerator.
It is also worth putting very ripe fruits in the refrigerator.
Long-term storage at high temperatures and in direct sunlight can cause the fruit to ripen too quickly.
Therefore, you shouldn’t leave bananas on the windowsill either.
Where to store bananas
The ideal conditions for storing the fruit are: room temperature, no direct sunlight and high humidity.
So, it's best to just leave the bananas on the kitchen counter.
