Many housewives prefer to store kitchen knives in a stand.
Firstly, the device looks quite nice and does not spoil the kitchen interior.
Secondly, it is very convenient: the instruments are easy to remove and put back without any problems.
But there is one serious drawback that negates all the advantages of the knife stand.
Why You Shouldn't Store Knives in a Knife Stand
This device is often a wooden structure with narrow holes and rather large recesses.
Water accumulates there. As a result, conditions are created for the reproduction of dangerous microorganisms.
In addition, dirt gets into the holes. And it is almost impossible to restore cleanliness to the recesses: a sponge simply does not fit there.
Of course, a solid wooden stand can be replaced with an open magnetic one. But some housewives do not want to take this step: they do not think that it is safe to use such a device.
Therefore, kitchen knives should be stored in a drawer: in the same place where spoons and forks are kept.
But there is an important point: before sending the washed instrument for storage, it must be thoroughly wiped with a towel. Not a single drop of water should remain on the knife.
