Many housewives assume that almost all food products can be stored together in the refrigerator for a short period of time.
But then it turns out that purchased vegetables or fruits lose their aroma and even spoil in the refrigerator.
As you may have guessed, not all vegetables and fruits can be stored next to each other.
Let's look into this issue in a little more detail.
What fruits and vegetables should not be stored together
These are the food groups.
- Do not place onions near apples and potatoes. Apples emit ethylene, and onions speed up the ripening process of potatoes. The same applies to garlic.
- Apples should not be placed next to other fruits. Keep them at least 6 centimeters away from other food products.
- Melons should also be stored separately. It is better to simply place them on the countertop.
- Keep cauliflower away from apples, kiwis and onions. This vegetable is sensitive to ethylene.
- Mushrooms absorb odors well. Therefore, it is also better to keep them away from other products.
