Many people water potted plants with tap water.

It is very convenient: just pour the liquid into a watering can or a plastic bottle and you can replenish the moisture deficit in the soil.

But it's not that simple. There are several important nuances that some housewives do not take into account.

There are at least three reasons why tap water is not suitable for watering indoor flowers.

Why tap water is dangerous for plants

Low temperature

Usually tap water has a rather low temperature, which is not suitable for flora.

Cold liquid in the soil can make important compounds dissolve worse. As a result, problems with plant growth and development will arise, MOS SMI reports.

Presence of chlorine

Tap water contains a lot of chlorine. This element has a negative effect on indoor plants.

The chlorine component can cause serious deterioration in the condition of the plant.

Presence of other impurities

Tap water may also contain other components that are dangerous to flora.

We are talking about numerous toxic compounds. The hostess can hardly find out whether they are present in the liquid. Therefore, it is not worth the risk.

What should the hostess do?

It is better to water indoor plants with water that is sold in large bottles. Of course, we are not talking about soda, but about simple clean liquid.

If for some reason you cannot buy such a product, then you will have to use tap water to water the flowers.

But then the liquid will need to be processed. For example, filtered and wait until the water is no longer cold. Or brought to a boil and left for one day.

Or you can simply pour water into an open deep container and wait 24 hours. The liquid will settle, lose its dangerous components and acquire room temperature.
