Many housewives do not even suspect that they wash bed linen incorrectly. The reason is that sorting by color is not everything.
We will tell you about the most common myths and mistakes that reduce the service life of sheets and duvet covers. There are not many of them and it is not difficult to remember.
1. How often to wash
On average, you need to change your bedding once a week. If we are talking about the warm season, then even more often - once every five days.
The reason is not only that people sweat more in the heat, but also that the windows are constantly open, through which dust and other dirt from the street penetrates.
2. First wash
It is carried out before laying a new set. You don't need to use much powder. It is enough to rinse the linen thoroughly.
3. Preserve color
Be sure to turn pillowcases and duvet covers inside out. The habit will preserve the color of the fabric and its quality. All accessories with embroidery are washed in a bag, and the locks on duvet covers and pillowcases are always fastened.
4. Water temperature
If you are afraid of dust mites, wash your bedding at 50 degrees Celsius. If your linen is white, you can wash it in cooler water, adding a little bleach to combat bacteria.
5. Material
It is important to know that light cotton is washed at temperatures up to 90 degrees, and colored cotton no higher than 50. Linen tolerates a range from 65 to 100 degrees.
6. Myths
Don't believe that the quality of washing depends on the water temperature and the amount of powder. In fact, the less laundry in the drum, the more obvious the result. Ideally, do not load more than ½ of the compartment.
