Thrifty gardeners will never run for new tools until they try to “reanimate” old devices.
Rusty garden tools are no good for work. However, they can be restored with simple remedies.
Rust removal
If you don’t have a special composition at hand, you can try to clean old devices using folk tricks.
To work you will need ingredients that are available in every kitchen and a metal brush or sponge.
A mixture of vinegar and citric acid (1:1) is applied to the rusty surface. The solution is not washed off immediately, but left for a couple of hours. After that, the surface is brushed with a metal brush (sponge).
The second way
Another remedy requires soda and water. The ingredients are mixed to form a thick paste.
The paste is applied to rusty areas and left for 30-60 minutes. Then the problem areas are wiped with a metal brush (sponge).
