In July 2009, the longest-running solo performance in history took place in India.
The musical marathon lasted... several hundred hours.
The record was set by Kuzhalmannam Ramakrishnan.
What is known about the longest concert in history
The venue for this unusual event, oddly enough, was a medical facility.
The concert took place in the rhythm therapy room of one of the hospitals in the village of Ottapalam in the Indian state of Kerala.
Kuzhalmannam Ramakrishnan drummed his hands non-stop for 501 hours.
The concert began on July 5, 2009 and ended only 21 days later.
Naturally, the compilers of the Guinness Book of Records took note of Ramakrishnan's unusual achievement.
The Indian was officially recognized as a record holder in two categories at once: “Longest concert by a solo artist” and “Longest marathon with hand drums”.
Both records have remained valid for 15 years.
For reference
A concert is a public performance of musical works, ballet, pop, etc. numbers according to a specific, pre-arranged program.
