Austrian Adam Rainer, who lived in the first half of the 20th century, was a unique person.
This man managed to be both a dwarf and a giant.
When Rainer was an 18-year-old boy, his height was just over 120 centimeters.
And at the end of his life, the Austrian was a 234-centimeter giant.
Biography of Adam Rainer
The unusual record holder was born in 1899 in Graz.
The height of this person's close relatives was normal.
But Adam himself turned out to be a dwarf: in 1917, the young man’s height was only 122.5 centimeters.
However, after 8 years, the situation changed: Rainer suddenly began to grow. And very quickly.
This unusual phenomenon for a 26-year-old man was explained by a pituitary tumor.
The tumor was removed when Rainer was already over 30.
The operation helped slow down the growth, but, unfortunately, it could not stop the process.
In 1931, Rainer's height reached 218 centimeters, and 19 years later the figure was 234 centimeters.
The transformation from a dwarf to a giant did not lead to anything good: the man faced a large number of ailments and ended up bedridden.
Adam Rainer passed away on March 4, 1950.
