Everyone likes the sound of cats purring. It is believed that cats calm themselves down this way, and at the same time help others to calm down.

Most of the time, contented house cats make a barely audible sound. However, 14-year-old Bella holds the record for loudest purr.

This unique feature allowed the pet to be included in the Guinness Book of Records as the loudest purring domestic cat.

Bella lives in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire and purrs at a volume of 54.6 decibels.

For comparison, this noise level corresponds to the volume of normal human speech or the noise made by a boiling kettle.

An official judge and sound engineer were invited to register the record and measure the volume.

Next, it was necessary to isolate the cat from external sources of noise.

However, it was not difficult to record the pet’s abilities.

According to the animal's owners, when Bella purrs, they have to turn up the volume on the TV because the cat interferes with their viewing.

It also turned out that Bella most often purrs loudly after a hearty lunch.
