Why does a cat bite in response to affection: perhaps the owner himself is to blame

Let's imagine a situation: you started petting your meowing four-legged friend. And suddenly your pet started biting.

Don't rush to scold the fluffy one and call him "aggressive".

In most cases, this kind of behavior of a purr, oddly enough, is absolutely normal.

If the bites were strong, then it is possible that you made some mistake.

Why does a fluffy cat bite in response to affection?

If the bite cannot be called strong (the cat does not clench its teeth strongly), then we are talking about a completely normal and even positive phenomenon.

In this case, biting indicates that the pet is showing affection and is trying to imitate “friendly brushing.”

Mild bites will most likely be combined with licking.

But be careful: it is possible that reflexes will “kick in” and your pet will bite you for real.

Keep in mind that a serious bite may be a cat's response to improper petting by its owner.

It is possible that you touched a place that should not be touched. A clear example: the purring cat's belly.

Or it could be that the animal is simply tired of your affection. Perhaps the pet just wants to rest, which is why it bit you.

In this case, just leave your four-legged friend alone.
