There are many videos on the Internet that show cats being afraid of bananas.
What is it about this popular tropical fruit that scares our meowing four-legged friends so much?
There are several hypotheses. And all of them are very interesting.
The banana resembles a snake
There is a version: cats confuse the oblong yellow fruit with a snake or some other dangerous creature.
This may explain the strange reaction of cats to a harmless fruit.
The surprise of a banana
If the owner “put” a banana in the cat’s mouth at a time when the furry creature was calmly eating food, the pet may get scared due to the sudden appearance of the “strange object”.
While enjoying their food, the cats relax.
But if they suddenly notice an “extra” object on their territory, they immediately become scared and run away.
The thing is that the “start reflex” is triggered.
The smell of banana
There is also this hypothesis: perhaps the fluffy creatures are frightened by the unusual smell emanating from the tropical fruit.
Advice for cat owners
Never scare your meowing four-legged friends with bananas.
Making an animal anxious and stressed out for the sake of a "funny" video is a bad idea.
