It has been proven that cats are not selfish at all: they can even miss a dog

Compared to dogs, cats are portrayed as selfish creatures who rejoice when left alone and alone. In reality, things look different.

Studies have shown that cats miss their owner just as much as they miss another pet, even a dog.

Research on this topic was conducted by employees of the University of Oakland (USA). The results of the work were published in the journal Applied Animal Behaviour Science.

Conclusions of scientists

Researchers noticed that melancholy caused cats to refuse food, play, and even make strange sounds similar to yapping.

At the same time, the pets required more attention and care, which refutes the claims about the selfishness and independence of cats.

Scientists note that the feeling of grief is not only characteristic of dogs (proven by Italian scientists). It is also exhibited by chimpanzees, elephants and dolphins.

For a dog that lives in a pack, this is a reasonable phenomenon.

Cat behavior has been mischaracterized until recently, researchers say.

But at the same time, a version was voiced that cat owners simply project their pain and experiences onto the remaining pet after the death of another.
