Usually cats react sharply to smells. But dogs are not ready to tolerate everything that is shoved under their noses.
For dogs, the sense of smell is a valuable tool, one of the most important for an animal, allowing it to serve in law enforcement agencies.
And if a dog can detect prohibited substances, this does not mean that it is ready to sniff any chemicals.
What smells do dogs dislike?
1. All synthetic substances with a sharp and pronounced smell cause disgust in people. Dogs really suffer when inhaling them, and all because of their developed sense of smell.
2. Dogs are not prepared to tolerate the smell of alcohol. But alcohol, unlike chemicals, can even cause aggression. This is one of the reasons why dogs do not like drunk people.
3. Dogs don't like tobacco smoke. Some can tolerate the smell of cigarettes, but scientists have proven that passive smoking is just as harmful to dogs as it is to humans.
4. Cosmetics and perfumes can also cause a negative reaction in an animal, especially pronounced and persistent ones.
5. The smell of printing ink can also irritate some dogs. That's why guard dogs sometimes bark so furiously at postmen.
