A dog bite can be interpreted in different ways. A pet can bite its owner during play, out of pain, but it can also bite out of fear or for some other reason.

Dog handlers say that such behavior cannot be ignored.

Of course, the pet does not do this out of revenge or anger. There is always a reason, it is important to find it and work on it to avoid such situations in the future, - said the head of the Russian Cynological Federation Vladimir Golubev in an interview with Veterinary Science and Life.

Reasons

1. During play, puppies can bite, and they do this in the same way as they would do when playing with their fellow puppies.

But the owner should make it clear to the pet that this cannot be done.

2. If a dog feels pain due to illness, fear, stress, or fright, then it begins to defend itself and may bite.

For a domestic dog, this behavior is understandable, but it requires correction.

3. Another reason is when the owner made mistakes in training and the dog does not understand the boundaries of what is permitted, trying to manipulate the owner.

Behavior correction

1. Bite during play – you need to stop the game, give a prohibiting command in a stern tone. Continue games or training only after the dog has calmed down.

2. A dog that is in pain should also stop biting with the commands "No" or "No". It is important to calm the pet, but also not to touch the inflamed area. Be sure to visit the veterinarian.

3. In other cases, physical measures of influence cannot be used. Action must be taken only by giving commands by voice.

If you are unable to influence the dog’s behavior on your own, you will have to contact a specialist.
