"While you were sleeping, Barsik was looking at you attentively"...
Almost every cat owner can hear this phrase from their family members.
It also happens that the waking owner himself sees that the pet is standing next to him and looking straight into his face.
Why are sleeping people so interesting to fluffy creatures? There are several possible explanations.
The cat "studies" the person
This behavior may be exhibited by a cat that has recently arrived in the house.
Fluffy hasn't yet had time to get to know the people living in the same apartment with him.
Night is the ideal time for "studying" and "inspection". After all, the owner lies motionless, and the cat (whose peak activity occurs precisely at night) is awake.
The cat is worried about its owner
A cat may feel restless if its sleeping owner's breathing changes.
A simple example: a person starts snoring. Most likely, the animal will want to check what happened to its owner, whether he is feeling well.
The cat felt that the owner was waking up
When you enter the final stage of sleep, the cat thinks you are almost awake.
Your pet doesn't see anything wrong with starting to look at you closely and ask for food.
The man woke up later than usual
Cats, accustomed to a certain daily routine, become very irritated when the daily routine is disrupted.
And the cat will definitely approach a person who should have woken up a couple of hours ago, but did not do so for one reason or another (the alarm did not go off, you should not wake up early on a weekend, etc.).
Earlier we explained why cats should not be trained by shouting and swearing.
