The sleeping fluffy one looks adorable.
But know this: sometimes your cat is not sleeping at all, but just pretending to be.
Why does the animal do this? No, the purr has no goal to "make fun" of you.
Most likely, there is another reason why the pet suddenly decided to “play the role” of a sleeper.
There are at least three cases in which a cat begins to pretend to be asleep.
The cat got into a stressful situation
If you think that a cat always feels absolutely safe in your home, then you are not entirely right.
Sometimes the cat hears loud sounds that really scare the animal.
Sometimes the pet thinks that a "predator" will attack it. For example, a dog that also lives in the same apartment.
The cat may begin to pretend to be asleep in order to relieve stress or to become “invisible” to the “rival”.
The cat wants to steal food
The hunting instinct can work in a furry pet even if there are no mice or birds nearby.
Thus, a cat may want to steal food from its owner. The animal may start pretending to sleep to show: "I'm not doing anything."
And then the cat will suddenly “wake up” and unexpectedly take a piece of food from the person.
The cat needs to "switch"
By pretending to be asleep, cats begin to conserve energy, temporarily forgetting about excessive activity.
Earlier we told you what it means if a cat sleeps at its owner’s feet.
