Even owners of domestic cats cannot be sure that they know exactly what their pets are doing while everyone in the house is sleeping.
It is generally accepted that cats also sleep at night. But we must not forget that cats are hunters first and foremost.
Experts believe that at night, domestic cats, if they do not hunt, then protect their owners and territory.
Here are some important things that a house cat does at night.
1. Pets walk around their property at night. It only seems to a person that the cat is wandering around from corner to corner without doing anything. But while the owner is sleeping, the cat is not dozing and is looking for traces of the enemy's penetration.
2. At the same time, cats can mark their territory. To do this, they just need to rub their heads against furniture, doors, corners, etc. Sometimes, pets scratch furniture for this purpose.
3. In between patrols, animals deal with discomfort, stress, and other consequences of their owner's working day. Cats are able to recognize anxiety and be near a person in time to relieve stress.
4. If a new pet, guest or family member appears in the house, cats will watch him at night. But they need this for themselves, to draw conclusions whether the newcomer poses a threat.
5. In between their activities, cats sleep with their owners. This way, cats themselves remain safe and at the same time protect their territory and the property on it – the owner.
6. It can be said that cats warn people about changes in the weather around the clock.
7. And, of course, cats protect their owners from diseases, and some hunt domestic insects or more serious pests at night.
Remember this when you decide to disturb your cat sleeping during the day. Perhaps he deserves a rest.
