Some people think that pet shampoos are a waste of time and if a shampoo is good for a person, then it will also be good for washing a dog.

It's not that simple. Neither shampoo nor shower gel, which are intended for human body care, are suitable for animals. The matter may end with a visit to the vet.

The head of the Russian Cynological Federation, Vladimir Golubev, answered in an interview with MK.RU why this should not be done.

Saving on buying shampoo for your pet may result in spending money at the veterinary clinic.

The dog may develop problems with its fur and skin.

The reason is that the pH balance of human and dog skin is different. Human skin has a higher acidity.

A single use of human shampoo will not cause any harm.

But with regular bathing, the pet's skin will become sensitive, dry, will begin to peel, inflammation will appear, and the dog may begin to itch.

As a result, bald spots and wounds form, and from here it’s just a stone’s throw to fungal and other diseases.

Therefore, it will be correct to choose a shampoo taking into account the breed and age of the dog. If you have any doubts, it is better to consult a veterinarian or specialist.
