Many summer residents spend winter evenings with their pets, and in the spring they often take them with them to the dacha.

To ensure that your cat or kitten have a holiday without incident, and at the same time for their owner, you need to prepare your pet for a trip to the countryside.

Veterinarian Ivan Pushilin spoke to Gazeta.Ru about how to do this correctly.

1. If the cat is picky, you will have to take not only a bowl, but even toys. If the pet is going to the dacha for the first time, this will help create a familiar atmosphere for it in the new place, because cats do not like moving.

2. It is important to prepare a first aid kit, which should be equipped with a bandage, cotton swabs, antiseptics, potassium permanganate, gloves, antihistamines, sedatives, antiparasitic and bihormonal drugs.

It is equally important to get seasonal vaccinations.

3. The pet should not be transported in your arms, or in a bag or sack, but in a carrier. The design should have a hard bottom, a mesh or grate for light and air.

4. Cats get sick in transport, this should be taken into account. Therefore, 8-12 hours before you set off on a trip, it is better not to give your pet anything edible, and take only clean water on the road.

5. At the dacha, you don’t need to immediately let the cat out into the wild. It’s better to let the pet get used to a quiet and cool room. Here you can also equip its bed, give it the opportunity to adapt, and give it its favorite food or treats to calm it down.
