Cat owners who keep several cats in a house or apartment have noticed that one of them may suddenly or constantly go to the toilet past the litter box.
There is an explanation for this. Such weakness may be related to personality traits or health problems.
Let's figure out what this is connected with and how to eradicate the problem.
1. Diseases and stress
If this is a litter-trained cat, there may be at least two reasons for this, according to researchers from the University of Helsinki.
Most often, cats misbehave when going to the toilet:
- suffering from urinary tract infections, as well as other diseases;
- those in a state of stress, which may be caused by moving or environmental factors;
- the most common reason is a dirty litter box, or cats simply don’t like it;
- it may be a fear of a disease from which cats have already recovered;
- this is what cats who have not been sterilized do;
- just scared cats.
2. No problem!
The least amount of problems in this regard arise with cats that were sterilized before the age of 4 months.
3. Breeds
Having studied the habits of different breeds, experts came to the conclusion that Bengal cats most often indulge in such pranks.
The least troublesome in this regard are the Siberian and Neva Masquerade.
