It turns out that nightmares are not the cause of problems, but a consequence of their presence in a person.
This is confirmed by research by foreign scientists, who found that all kinds of horror dreams are most often seen by emotional people or those with mental disorders.
According to the scientific publication Dreaming, it is psychological characteristics and emotional predispositions that determine the scenario of what is seen in a dream.
What was found out?
1. Nightmares are often associated with mental health problems.
At risk are patients with post-traumatic stress disorder (50 to 70% of respondents suffer from nightmares).
2. The same list includes people with anxiety disorders and depression.
40% of respondents in this category report that they see horrors in their dreams periodically.
Another 4% admitted that something similar happens to them all the time.
3. The next people on the list are emotionally unstable and sensitive to stress.
4. Overdeveloped empathy and poorly developed ability to distinguish between external and internal emotions also leads to terrible dreams.
What is the reason?
According to the researchers, people from these categories tend to transform their personal experiences, which the scientists called “concretization.”
Because of this, their brain produces disturbing images during their night sleep.
