Researchers at the University of Western Australia conducted a curious experiment and came to a strange conclusion.
Similar to Cesare Lombroso's theory of the born criminal and the signs that give him away, researchers have begun to think about the physical signs of cheaters.
What is interesting is not the fact that the theory was partly correct. The fact is that a cheating man can be recognized by his face, but a woman – almost not.
The results of the study were published by the Royal Society of London.
Research by scientists
The analysis was based on data collected from 189 volunteers, including information on their integrity in family relationships.
A group of participants was recruited who had to identify the traitors among the front men based on their external characteristics.
For this purpose, 592 men and 924 women were recruited.
The evaluations were conducted by persons of the same sex as those being evaluated.
What was found out?
It turned out that unfaithful men were accurately identified by male and female evaluators.
The peculiarities of physiognomy made it possible to identify cheaters on average five times more often than cheaters.
Scientists believe that the percentage of detection is higher than the random rate, but still, for science, it is considered low.
And in the wider scientific community, this study was subjected to the harshest criticism, and was even called the most useless scientific study of 2019.
