A person who only makes plans but does nothing to implement them is putting his life on hold.
He may have a goal in life and a dream, but every day he creates obstacles for himself on the way to this goal.
Psychologist Alena Makarova told Doctor Peter why this is bad and how to understand that you have begun to suffer from the syndrome of postponed life.
The term was introduced in 1997 by Professor Vladimir Serkin. The danger of the phenomenon is that a person turns his life into a constant expectation of the right moment, which never comes.
Signs of coolant
Firstly, a person does not get pleasure from real life and all his thoughts are occupied with the future.
Secondly, these are perfectionist people who strive to achieve perfection in everything they do. But this only contributes to postponing the long-awaited right moment.
Thirdly, failures are feared because something needs to be started right now. As a result, a person again expects a favorable future.
Fourthly, COJ is often associated with inability to make decisions. People are sure that it will be better if someone else makes the decision for them.
Fifthly, it is being busy with something that does not bring satisfaction, but only helps you forget about your dream.
Sixthly, the syndrome forces one to compare oneself with others, more successful people, which ultimately leads to envy and low self-esteem.
And the last point is guilt and shame due to the inability to realize oneself. Usually such people call themselves losers, worthless. They lead a secluded life and are sometimes aggressive towards others.
