People love to receive compliments.
Want to improve your relationship with a colleague or a new acquaintance? Be sure to say something nice to them!
But don't overdo it. Direct compliments are often perceived by people as flattery.
Are you afraid of appearing ingratiating, but still want to say something nice to your interlocutor?
Then pay attention to such a trick as compliments from the third person.
What is a "third person compliment"
As the name suggests, it is a pleasant statement that refers to someone else.
For example: “Ivan Ivanovich said that you cook wonderfully” or “Pyotr Petrovich was delighted with your dress.”
In other words, the author of the statement does not seem to be giving a compliment himself, but is only retelling a flattering review from another person.
What's good about compliments from the third person
A direct compliment can be perceived as ingratiation. But a compliment from a third person usually does not cause such a feeling.
The main thing is not to lie. Retell only real reviews. Otherwise, the deception will be revealed sooner or later. And then it will not be possible to improve relations with the interlocutor.
