How many years difference should there be between partners for the relationship to be strong?

While some people are sure that the most important thing is love, others see even a small age gap as a threat to the well-being of a relationship.

According to psychologists, the optimal period is 2–5 years.

This difference creates common goals and a similar worldview.

But as soon as you start a relationship with a partner who is 7-10 years older, conflicts arise.

Different generations, social circles, even shame for the other half - all this destroys the connection.

Interestingly, there is a "formula" for the ideal age, although it is unknown who is its author. The lower limit is half your age plus 7, the upper limit is your age minus 7, multiplied by two.

Despite this, men on dating sites often look for 20-year-olds, while women choose their peers or those who are a couple of years older.

Perhaps this happens under the influence of stereotypes, which make their own adjustments.

A woman with children after 35 is often considered a “loser,” while a man of the same age is considered promising.

Real experience only shows that there are no universal rules.

Age is just one factor. Much more important are mutual respect, flexibility and willingness to compromise.

As practice shows, even a 15-year age difference is not a hindrance if the partners speak the same language - literally and figuratively.
