Psychologists say that upbringing is a joint task of a man and a woman. Both parents should take part in this process.
However, some representatives of the stronger sex, for one reason or another, are afraid of spending time together with a baby: perhaps because they have not had such experience before or have not seen positive examples.
Here are some helpful tips to help men understand their role in raising a child and enjoy spending time with him.
Make arrangements in advance
It is worth “negotiating” even at the stage of pregnancy planning: ask your partner about his point of view on the father’s contribution to raising a child, about the distribution of responsibilities and other important things.
Conduct educational work
Tell your spouse about the father's influence on the child's development, but do it with the care that is typical of women and do not press. From time to time, offer him to read an article by a psychologist or watch an interesting video so that he has an idea of equal parenting.
Trust your child from infancy
Ask the man to take part in the baby’s life – change the diaper, bathe the baby, take a walk with the stroller, discuss the baby’s small achievements with him and spend more time with the whole family.
Hold off on criticism
If you are constantly dissatisfied with your husband's actions, do not be surprised if after a while he withdraws, and the responsibility for raising your son or daughter falls entirely on your shoulders.
Praise the man
In relationships, use the positive anchoring method. How does it work? For example, if your spouse spent time walking with the child, cook his favorite dinner, and after the parent-teacher meeting, offer to relax watching a movie. Don't forget to tell your man that he is a wonderful husband and father - this will definitely not leave him indifferent.
