Are you peeling onions and the peels are flying into the trash can? Stop!

This "garbage" peel is a real treasure for the garden. It will protect plants from diseases, feed them with vitamins and even save you money.

And all this without chemicals and complicated recipes. Let's figure out how to turn onion waste into gold for your garden beds.

The first application is fertilizer. The peel contains quercetin, phytoncides and a whole set of microelements. Pour a liter of boiling water over a handful of peel, leave for 2 days, strain - and it's ready!

This infusion can be used to water seedlings to strengthen the roots, or to spray adult plants to boost immunity.

Cucumbers and zucchini especially love this treat: they begin to bloom more actively and are less susceptible to powdery mildew.

But that's not all. Onion peel is a natural insecticide. If you brew 300 g of peel in 10 liters of water, boil for 5 minutes and cool, you will get a deadly cocktail for aphids, spider mites and thrips.

Spray the affected plants, and in a day the pests will disappear. The main thing is to treat the leaves on both sides and repeat the procedure once a week for prevention.

Do you know how to protect potatoes from wireworms? Add a handful of peels to the hole when planting! The pungent smell will scare away the larvae, and as the peel decomposes, it will feed the tubers.

The same trick works with carrots: sprinkle the peelings into the furrows before sowing, and the carrot fly won't even come near.

The husks are an ideal mulch. Spread a 2-3 cm layer around currant or raspberry bushes, and it will suppress weed growth, retain moisture, and repel soil pests.

Just don't use red onion peels - they can stain the soil, although this is harmless.

And finally: onion "tea" will save indoor flowers. If your violets or orchids are withering, water them with an infusion of the husk (100 g per 1 l of water). This will revive the roots, speed up growth and protect against fungus. And also - get rid of midges in the pots.

Just don't use it too often: once a month is enough to keep your plants healthy.
