Bell peppers are in demand among gardeners, just like cucumbers, tomatoes and potatoes.
This crop is considered demanding and gardeners can count on a good harvest only by paying maximum attention to peppers.
Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", a scientist agronomist and landscape designer, told what to plant next to peppers to increase their yield.
What to plant next to peppers
1. Tomatoes can grow in a neighboring bed, but you need to ensure that both crops have enough space, light, air and nutrition.
Remember that tomatoes, especially tall ones, can shade peppers that need sunlight.
2. Another representative of the nightshade family is eggplant.
They get along well next to each other and do not interfere with their growth and development.
But again, don't forget about peppers' love of sunlight, so choose low-growing varieties of eggplants.
Growing conditions
But in addition to neighboring plants, the pepper harvest depends on the conditions created for it.
First, provide the peppers with light, warmth and nutrition.
Secondly, plant seedlings according to crop rotation rules.
Thirdly, choose well-lit areas and carefully prepare the soil for planting seedlings.
