What to do with sprouted potatoes: not recommended for eating

No one is surprised by potatoes sprouting in the cellar, because this feature is inherent in it by nature itself.

The question is different: what to do with sprouted tubers?

The answer to this question was found by the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh.

She believes that green potatoes with small sprouts appearing on them are excellent material for planting.

To prepare potatoes for planting, move the tubers to a well-lit room where the temperature does not rise above two degrees.

Such conditions are necessary so that the sprouts stop stretching and successfully “exist” until planting.

Slightly sprouted and not green tubers can be sorted and sent to feed livestock.

But humans should not eat them.

If the tubers are very wrinkled, but have not turned green, they can be thrown into the compost.

Please note: do not sprinkle the potatoes with soil or snow on top.

Otherwise, it will start to grow, just like in the garden beds.

Finally, if the potato is completely spoiled - it is not only very wrinkled, but has begun to rot in some places - there is nothing left to do but throw it away.
