Even if the plants in your garden are producing well, you always want more.
Therefore, if you are thinking about increasing the yield of raspberries and currants, try the method described in this article.
You will be able to evaluate its effectiveness (if we are talking about raspberries) in a year, whereas in the case of currants you will have to wait a year longer.
So, to increase the raspberry yield by 10 times, you will need to pinch off the top, sprout bud of young shoots that have risen to a height of at least 30 cm.
This must be done strictly on June 30th of each year.
As a result, by autumn, from each bud located at the base of the leaf, a future fruit-bearing brush of the new summer will grow.
The same should be done with currants.
In spring and summer, pinch off the top growth bud when it reaches 20 cm in height.
Next spring, the branches that grew from this bud also need to be budded off when their length reaches 10 cm.
As the season comes to an end, you will see new shoots appear from the buds at the base of these branches.
In the third year from the moment of the first “operation”, they will be super-fruitful, and the currant berries will increase in size by 1.5 times.
Please note: in subsequent years, the bushes no longer need pruning.
