In winter, fruit trees are at risk from pests. Rodents and hares, which eat the bark of young seedlings, pose a threat.
There are several options to save the tree.
Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti" - a scientist, agronomist and landscape designer, told how to act in such a situation.
You cannot leave a damaged trunk, even if the tree has suffered minor damage. The damage must be treated in any case.
First option
If the wounds are minor, you can use garden varnish.
From folk recipes it is recommended to prepare a linden decoction.
To prepare it, you will need 200 grams of linden bark per 1 liter of water. Bring everything to a boil and cook for another 40 minutes.
The resulting composition is used to treat the trunk, and then the damaged area is wrapped in thick paper for several months and securely fixed.
Second option
You will need to heat up the vegetable oil and mix it with tar, and treat the damaged trunk with the resulting mixture three times a day for several days.
You can stop processing after a protective layer has formed on the trunk.
For preventive purposes, it is recommended to use protective materials to cover young trees.
