It often happens that due to their busy schedules, summer residents miss the right time to whitewash trees.
In such a situation, the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh advises turning to other methods of protection.
White agrotextile
Cut spunbond or lutrasil into strips and wrap them around tree trunks. Use wire or rope to secure the material.
Agrotextile will not allow the sun's rays to heat the bark and thus protect it from cracking, but it is powerless against fungi and pests, so first you need to carry out eradication treatment in the garden, and soak the fiber itself in a solution of fungicide and insecticide. If you add turpentine or creolin to it, then rodents will not be scary for you either.
Garden bandages
If the previous option seemed complicated to you, buy garden bandages, which are strips of agrofibre with a protective compound applied to them.
Pine branches
Spruce branches perform a variety of functions, one of which is protecting trees from frost, sun and rodents.
You can tie the spruce branches to the trunks with the needles facing down, or fill bags with needles and cuttings and place them around the trunks.
For reference
Whitewash is a type of coloring material made from slaked lime or calcium carbonate.
