This Plant Will Do All the Work for You: Summer Residents Are Shocked

Grow lupine in your garden and it will save your vegetable garden.

Its roots penetrate to a depth of up to 2 meters, extracting nitrogen from the lower layers of the soil and sharing it with its neighbors.

After flowering, cut the stems and bury them in the beds: this is the best green fertilizer.

The smell of lupine is unbearable for the Colorado potato beetle. Plant it between rows of potatoes - and in a month you will not find a single pest.

But it is important to choose perennial varieties (for example, "Lupinus multifolia"), since annuals quickly fade.

After mowing lupine, do not remove the tops - dig them up with the soil. When decomposing, the stems release alkaloids that kill pathogenic fungi and nematodes.

Within just one season, the soil will become loose as fluff, and the yield will jump by 40%.

To enhance the effect, mix lupine with mustard: this combination works as a natural antiseptic.

Lupine's bright blue and purple flowers are a magnet for bees and bumblebees.

Plant it next to apple, cherry or cucumber trees, and the insects will guarantee abundant fruiting. But don't cut the flowers right away: let the bees "work" for at least 2-3 weeks.

But be careful: this plant can become a weed if not controlled. Cut off flower stalks before they go to seed or plant in small containers.

And remember: lupine is poisonous to animals, so keep livestock away from it.
