What if a record harvest of tomatoes and peppers didn't require supermarket fertilizer, but rather ordinary banana peels?
Freeze it for the winter, and bury it in the holes when planting in the spring.
Harvest tricks
Potassium and phosphorus from the skins will strengthen the roots and speed up flowering.
Eggshells, crushed into powder, will reduce soil acidity and protect against slugs. Add it to the soil when transplanting, and the seedlings will not get sick.
And also try "tea" from onion peels. Pour boiling water over a handful of peels, let it brew for a day and water the seedlings. This is not only a fertilizer, but also protection against fungus.
For an extra effect, mix water with hydrogen peroxide (1 tbsp. per liter) - oxygen will awaken dormant roots.
But remember: the first two weeks after germination, the seedlings do not need fertilizers. They take all their strength from the seed, and overfeeding will burn the tender sprouts.
Other secrets
For example, fish heads buried under tomato roots are a source of nitrogen and calcium.
And coffee grounds mixed with soil repel aphids and saturate the soil with magnesium.
For flowering plants, add a pinch of sugar to the hole - glucose stimulates the formation of ovaries.
However, not all “natural” fertilizers are safe.
Manure can burn the roots if it is not rotted. Use only humus that is 2-3 years old.
And the ash from the stove contains heavy metals if plastic or painted wood was burned in it. Take the ash only after firewood or branches.
And don't ignore the signals from plants.
If the leaves are purple, there is a lack of phosphorus, if they are pale, there is a lack of nitrogen, and brown edges indicate a deficiency of potassium.
Mix 1 cup of wood ash, 1 tbsp. superphosphate and a handful of compost - this is a universal fertilizer for all occasions.
