Not all summer residents are familiar with the need to spend money on seeds of their favorite varieties before each new season.

Many of them collect seeds themselves – after all, it is a simple, interesting and, of course, useful process.

An expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh told how to prepare pumpkin seeds yourself.

Select the fruit

Only fully ripened fruits are suitable for seed collection.

To achieve this "effect", pinch off all the shoots in advance, leaving a few leaves on the last ovary. As the plant grows, do not forget to get rid of new side shoots.

Alternatively, send the fruit you selected for ripening. The place for this should be warm, dry and well ventilated.

Extract the seeds

When the pumpkin is ripe – this will happen in about a month – you can take the seeds out of it.

To do this, of course, you need to cut the pumpkin, remove the seeds, clean them from the pulp and rinse them in cool water.

Of all the seeds, select the largest and fullest ones that are free of defects.

Dry the seeds

The selected seeds should be laid out on a cloth and allowed to dry in a warm, dry place.

Please note: the described method is suitable for stocking up on seeds of zucchini, squash, watermelon and melon.
