Experienced gardeners, unlike beginners, know that buying a ready-made mixture for seedlings or preparing it yourself is not enough.
The soil will only be considered ready once it has passed the disinfection stage.
An expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh listed the methods that can be used to solve this problem.
1. It is worth starting with freezing: to use this method, you need to take the prepared soil outside.
Some gardeners prefer not to bother and leave it there for the whole winter.
2. Steaming is no less effective.
To do this, the soil needs to be placed in a microwave-safe container and placed in the oven for 15-20 minutes.
No microwave? No problem: pour the soil mixture into a fine sieve and pour boiling water over it.
3. If none of the above methods suits you, you can bake the soil in the oven at a temperature of 70 to 90 degrees.
He should spend 30-40 minutes here.
4. Finally, soil etching involves using a solution of 20 ml of hydrogen peroxide and 1 liter of water, which must be poured over the solution.
You can also use a solution of potassium permanganate, which consists of 5 g of potassium permanganate and 10 liters of water.
